Quotes, app and word of the week

“Design and programming are human activities; forget that and all is lost.”
The writers of an Extreme Programming guide pay tribute to a quote by Bjarne Stroustrup, 1991 the person who gave C++ to the world.

BLAST FROM THE PAST

“If Shahid Afridi is 18, then I’m 24.”
Cricket commentator Geoffrey Boycott isn’t foolish enough take Shahid Afridi’s age at face value.
Thanks to Nikhil ‘Chops’ Anand for this cheeky quote.

APP OF THE WEEK

Well, I thought of sharing some of the apps/tools I use both at work and at home and here we go.

If you were expecting a mobile app backed by the cloud, I don’t blame you. But I thought of starting with a simple, but awesome app for Windows. It’s a must have for noting down all your to-does and avoid pasting post-it notes all over your workstation.

Thanks to Deepak for the suggestion.

WORD OF THE WEEK.

Oh yeah, sharing new words we learn isn't a bad idea either, isn't it?

Pivot:

You can google for the usual definitions of this word. But my favorite is the one in the start-up context by
Eric Ries - "Pivot is a change is strategy, but not a change in vision."  But it's being used way too often and should have probably been voted as one of the words of the year in 2011.

Usage Example: "If you have been reading my posts or you bother scrolling down to the older posts, you'd know that I pivoted."

This quote is a break from tradition, isn’t it? But I put this in as a reminder if I ever visit this page again and was reason enough for me to continue the blog even though it has only one reader as far as I know(apart from me J ) - Nitin.

Manchester City not only closely follow their city rivals on the league table, manager Roberto Mancini enjoys taking a leaf out of Ferguson’s book too.  (See previous quote J )

This video from the episode is a must-watch.
